What books have brought you a greater understanding of Christ? Can be non-fiction or fiction, spiritual or not. Obviously, the Bible, Book of Mormon, etc. are on the list, as are Jesus the Christ, Mortal Messiah, and Believing Christ; and Speaker for the Dead on the fiction side.  (And obviously Jesus of Suburbia. Have I written about it yet? It’s awesome.) Give me more.  The reason will come in another post.

    hmmm…the two i was going to mention were jesus of suburbia (thank you FOREVER for getting that for me!) and believing christ. i’ve read a ton of memoirs that make me feel closer to god, or inform my practice and conceptualizing of faith. eat pray love comes to mind, as does girl meets god (that book is rad! i loaned it to chris pope, and now that i think about it, he never gave it back…). come be my light about mother teresa was also amazing. sounds fun 🙂

    I really liked reading President Hinckley’s biography. I think it is called Go Forward with Faith (you’ve probably already read it). What also came to mind was the Chronicles of Narnia. Weird, I know, but I really like the allegories (ok, i’m not sure that is the right literary tool, but you know what I mean. .. ).

    Those are awesome suggestions, thanks ladies! I’ve been meaning to read a biography of President Hinckley- it was on my uberlist for last year and didn’t happen- and I’ve wanted to read Mother Teresa’s book too. I LOVE the Narnia books, they absolutely belong on the list. And yes, allegory is what you were looking for, although I think C.S. Lewis said they weren’t explicitly allegories. But whatever. 🙂

    Brandy, there seem to be 2 versions of Girl meets God at amazon, one from 2003, one from 2004. Both are paperback. One is Girl meets God: A Memoir, the other is Girl meets God:On the path to a spiritual life. I’m assuming they’re the same, just different printings? Please advise. 🙂
