Time to write a little story
Or at least plan to write one. Every November for the past number of years I’ve participated in Nanowrimo (National Novel Writing Month). The goal is to write a 50,000 word novel in 30 days. Note that the goal isn’t to write a GOOD novel, just to get the words down. Part of the point is to get past your inner editor and just write. I’ve managed to hit the 50,000 words 4 times. The other times I gave up within a couple days, as life was just too hectic. But this year I’m taking on the challenge again. Â I always start thinking about what I want to do early on- I’m a planner- and this year, rather than the murder mysteries I usually write, I’m feeling inspired by the Japanese seaside and Hayao Miyazaki. So I’m thinking it’s probable that I’ll end up with talking crabs, magic forests, am abandoned train station, and a house on an island. Â We’ll see where it goes.
Or I may just end up with someone murdered at a rich reclusive movie producer’s mansion in the 1920’s. There’s no telling.
