At this moment

It is cold, but sunny outside. A lovely day.

The girls are playing with Legos on the floor. B got them Halloween themed playsets (a bat, a pumpkin, a ghost) yesterday, and it has sparked a Lego extravaganza. They played this morning until it was time to leave for preschool, and headed straight back there when we got home.  Apparently, “This is Halloween-town” doesn’t have dragons. They’re only in Easter – town. Just so you know.

Buttefly and caterpillar shaped pasta is cooking on the stove for lunch. We’re out of bread – the grocery store is in my future.

I’m hoping reaaaaaallly super hard that a really awesome opportunity works out for us. You know those times when you pray “please let this work” at every possible moment of the day, as though the sheer quantity of prayers will sway the outcome? This is one of those times.

I’m also daydreaming a lot about said opportunity. When I know anything for certain, I’ll share.

My house needs a major tidying and purging. We just have so much… stuff. It surely can’t all be necessary, right?

I’m thinking about the upcoming week. We have more preschool, 3 different Halloween parties, a play date with new friends, so many things to do and enjoy.

I’m ready to go take a nap. I wonder how plausible that is…

What’s going on with you at this moment?

I sent up a prayer for you. I hope your prayer gets answered as you would like. Those kind of situations are interesting. Kind of stressful and kind of fun at the same time.

I am making a robot costume for Magnus right now. I just made a major mistake and am trying to ignore it. I’m make silver lame’ pants with a grey fleece lining since it’ll be cold when we trick or treat. I just sewed them inside out. I didn’t leave enough fabric at the waste to cut it off and resew. I’m thinking it will be OK and no one will notice, but I know. I hate making stupid mistakes when I sew. I have been doing it long enough that I shouldn’t make mistakes like this. But I always do. I’m just absent minded like that I think. Oh well.

Next up is feeding my kids some kind of lunch. It’s way past lunchtime and I’m starting to get shaky. I better make that a prerogative.

Ben left for Ireland this morning. He’ll be back on Saturday. I’m excited for him to go but at the same time I am sad I couldn’t go. I have never been. This trip and the one he’ll take next week to Venezuela have made me think about motherhood and my purpose in life. It’s been an interesting thought process. I am not as upset about not going on the trip as I thought I’d be because of that process.
I’m embracing this last week of Halloween festivities and costuming. It’ll be a fun week! Robot costume today, Luke Skywalker (Episode 4) tomorrow, Red Racing Spider on Wednesday, Witches hat on Thursday, ward Halloween party on Thursday, going to Uly’s school for an assembly on Friday, Trick or Treating on Saturday (we live in Utah…) and Ben comes home for a day on Saturday.
    This is a long comment… 🙂

  2. I hope that your wishing is that you will move next door to me.

And man, you guys are serious halloweeners. 🙂

It was 70 degrees in CT today! And I never get sick of the beautiful fall colors on the trees. Endless yellows, golds, and reds. It is more beautiful than I thought it would be! My husband started his new job today, so after a 26 days job-hiatus, we were both back at work — him at the office, me at home! I’ve decided that I never want to live anywhere with 30 stairs (top to bottom). I’m going to have some good leg muscles though!

Missing our friends in CA! Can’t wait to hear about the new thing in the works. I hope that it works out how you hope.

Jessie, you are awesome. For so many reasons. I’m praying for you too while Ben is gone, I hope the kids are angelic. And if anyone mentions Mag’s backward pants, just smack them. 🙂 I’m sure they’re amazing. I can’t wait to see pictures.

Hil, I will fill you in as soon as I can. And yes, we’re hardcore about Halloween around here. The girls have had a Halloween mission each day this month.

Julie! I’m so glad you’re starting to get settled! I want to see pictures! We miss you!

I’ll be praying really hard that this works out for you too! I miss the kids and their creativity with Legos, but my feet don’t miss them…especially in the middle of the night when one escapes to the middle of the floor!
