At this moment

In my house right now:

It smells like vomit and Lysol. Z was sick last night, and the house is still recovering.

Z is laying on the couch, watching Mickey Mouse. She’s kept down some toast and water (last night not even water would stay down), so things are looking better.

Tiny is standing in front of the TV in pants that are apparently too big, as they have slipped down over her diaper and are now around only one ankle. I should go do something about that.

Ok, I’m back. The elastic on the waist isn’t tight enough to keep them up. Heehee.

I still haven’t taken a shower, but my hair is a lovely scarlet color.

I’m reading Writing Motherhood by Lisa Garrigues. It is fantastic.

I’m loving this woman’s art, and thinking that we need to commission a portrait of Mimi, the lion that helps Z be brave.  Speaking of whom… we did a little switcharoo last night and replaced the old, decrepit, hair falling out Mimi with a new replacement Mimi. Z totally bought it, as we had to stick the old Mimi in the wash because of the vomit, and as far as she knows, washing a stuffed animal magically gives it back its hair; but I have to admit, I felt a little like I was betraying the old Mimi. He served Z really well, saw her through a great number of childhood dramas, and was well loved in return.  I know that as far as Z is concerned, this is still Mimi, but I like to think that out there somewhere Mimi got turned into a real lion (ala the Velveteen Rabbit), because he certainly was a real one to Z.

I have SO many books to read. I need to finish Writing Motherhood, and Positive Discipline for Preschoolers, AND We Never Talk About My Brother by Peter S. Beagle. And those are just the books I’m currently reading. Then I have a stack of 7 other books waiting for me. AND I need to get the Old Testament finished in the next 3 days if I want to keep on schedule with my goal to read all of the LDS standard works this year. And I’m only in Isaiah. I think I’m  in trouble.

I’m also reading the manual for my new camera, which is something I would never have thought of doing if it weren’t for my beloved friend, Miss Jessica of MomShots. I’m learning all sorts of new things, and discovering so many neat things I can do with my camera. Check it out:

Isn’t that such a cool effect? And it’s ON my camera, not photoshopped. So cool!

And check out the super awesome panorama shot!

And check out little cutie pants at our impromptu disco! She knows how to party on down!

Seriously, she’s so cute:

And the little misses out on a walk, with Miss Z being a sweet big sister:

It’s such an awesome camera, I LOVE it.

I saw Alice in Wonderland the other evening, and LOVED it. I will write about it at a later time, but I thought it was gorgeous, and I had a different reading of it than many of the reviews I’ve read. I know you’re all aflutter waiting for it.

I’m getting ready for an influx of babies! My sister-in-law is due any day, a new friend is getting induced on Friday, another friend just had a baby, and one of my best friends just brought home her new baby. So I have lots of baby blankets and showers in the works, which is fun and exciting. 🙂

And now I should go get things moving for my day. My day at home with girls watching TV. I think I may clean my house.

What’s going on with you at this moment?

  1. I always forget how old Aubrey is. She is perpetually a three month old baby in my mind. When I see photos of her being such a big girl, it always shocks me. Your daughters are so beautiful. That’s not the shocking part; that they are growing up is. 🙂
Cool effects with your camera! What kind did you get? I am so glad that you are learning how to use it. It is amazing how many awesome things most cameras can do but people are oblivious to it because they don’t read the manual. Yay!!!!!

Haha Jess, there’s a little girl in our ward about a month younger than Audrey who is named Aubrey, so she gets called Aubrey a decent amount. She doesn’t notice. 🙂 If it makes it any better, Uly is perpetually about 2 in my head. I see pictures of him and am completely puzzled as to who the handsome boy is! 🙂

I got a Pentax Optio W90 12.1 MP Waterproof Digital Camera with 5x Wide Angle Zoom and 2.7-Inch LCD. (I copied and pasted that.) It’s AWESOME. I’m halfway through the manual, because I’m trying things out as I read. But I actually remembered how to do something today that I wanted to do, so it’s working! 🙂

I’m so sorry about the sickness at your house. That is one of the nicest things about the kids getting older is they can take care of themselves for the most part when they’re sick. Although, when Brianna was a new mom she called one day and said that she was sick and that it wasn’t fair that no one took care of the mommy when she was sick and she still had to take care of Savannah! I got a good laugh out of that bz it’s so true. Your girls are growing up so fast! I still think that Zoe looks like you. Does Audrey resemble your husband more? I see you in her too, but more so Zoe. I guess it’s bz the first pictures I have of you you weren’t much older than Zoe so that’s how you’re stuck in my head, lol!
