Beauty at the park

We had a nice morning, school went well and I discovered that the girls have an interest in the Hindu deities that they haven’t shown for the Roman or Greek gods. (I LOVED the Greek gods at Z’s age.) After lunch we’d all kind of done the things we needed to get done, and we were all a little restless. So we got shoes on and headed outside. We went to a park a train station away (in Tamagawa) that we’ve been to before, but never in the fall.  It was absolutely beautiful. Mushrooms, butterflies, shimmering leaves, acorns; everywhere we looked there was something stunning.  There were also tons of mosquitoes, and I got eaten alive, but it was worth it for all of this.

This is kind of art deco, don’t you think?

I haven’t figured out what this says, hopefully it’s not rude.

This little leafy is actually a moth. It was so still that I actually wasn’t convinced it was actually a moth. Then it flew away.

I call this the toasted marshmellow mushroom.

Zoe spotted this mantis fellow. I would have totally missed him.

I just love the color of this leaf.

Acorn topper, or something more nefarious?

Tiny fell in love with this tiny acorn.

Miss Z was very proud to make it to the top of the play structure.

This is some sort of plant.

In my Nanowrimo story this is going to be an animal. A very prickly animal.

And speaking of camouflage, how about this stick bug?

IMG_0197

Just kidding. That’s totally a stick.

There were a ton of butterflies but this was the only one I could get even remotely near.

All the mosquito bites (seriously, I have at least 20) were worth it for the colors on this leaf.
