So Z was singing today, and I asked her what she was singing, and she said “The song about Jesus and sunshine”.  I assumed she meant the Sunbeam song (“Jesus wants me for a sunbeam, to shine for him each day…”) , but then I heard her sing “When Jesus shows His smiling face, there is sunshine in my soul”. I asked her where she heard that song and she said, with a smile that showed she knew she was being clever,  “In church”.

We sang that song as the opening hymn in Sacrament meeting.

I’ve been feeling really strongly lately that I need to be singing more, and I think this is a definite push in the direction of the songs I need to be singing.  She’s got “Quickly I’ll Obey” down (the words, if not the behavior), and we were working on “Choose the Right” before her little revelation today, so I think we’re heading in the right way.

Does anyone know how to find out what songs they’ll be singing in Primary next year?

I was in the Distribution Center yesterday and I’m pretty sure that I saw a book for the course outline including music for primary next year. I may be wrong bz I only glanced at it since I’m not in primary. Good luck! I’d give my primary president a call if I were you bz she’d know.

I think you can go on the church’s primary site and they have the program listed, and then you have to go through there and fish-out all the songs. Or, ask Sister Clark, she’s pretty on top of things….
Quickly I’ll Obey is my favorite song ever. :)

I love this, and I have no idea how to find out the primary songs for next year. But, I love this anyway. :-)

There is a set of songs for the Primary program, but I don’t think there is fixed set of songs for the whole year. There may be suggested songs to go along with the theme for the year.

If you’re interested in the songs for the Primary program, there are usually CDs produced to help kids learn the songs. Often, the songs are not in the regular Primary song book, but the Primary President should have a copy of the program with any songs which aren’t in the Children’s book or the hymn book.

Awesome. I love listening to kids sing the Hymns in their everyday activities. Craig’s kids have all sung High On a Mountain Top from the time they could first talk. And his little girl absently sings all sorts of hymns while she plays, I try to sneak up on her and record, but she always catches me and gets distracted by telling me some outlandish story she’s been saving for me.
